About Our Capital Campaign

Our Board of Directors is pleased and poised with its commitment to continue to advance services and programs to the Kane community and the surrounding region. With this commitment comes on-going financial sustainability to serve its people.

The Lutheran Home at Kane is undertaking a $5.3 million project to position itself for the future. Our renovation and expansion project will ensure we are offering resident-centered care in a state of the art facility. We are forever grateful to the McKean County Commissioners for their support and assistance in securing the Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant of $2.44 million to assist with this project.

We are a recognized leader in serving the region’s most vulnerable residents—including the elderly, the sick, and the recovering—with quality and compassionate care. More than 50 years ago, the Lutheran Church established a nursing home in Kane to care for frail and elderly residents in McKean, Elk, and Warren counties, as well as the surrounding areas.

The facility has had very minor renovations since it was built in 1980. The only addition was a wing in 1999 for the 33-bed personal care unit, the Residential Care Center.

To build for the future, our Board of Directors has approved an expansion plan that will continue to guarantee top quality services and upgrade our capacity to care for area residents.

Building for the Future

Our Capital Campaign will enable us to make these much needed improvements.

  • Alzheimer’s/Dementia Unit: Alzheimer’s/Dementia is expected to increase by 14% over the next five years. It is an irreversible disease that slowly destroys memory and steals loved ones from their family and friends. We will add a new 16-bed unit with all private rooms in a home-like environment. Showers, kitchen, and living areas will be centrally located for resident convenience. All employees who work in this unit will receive additional training and education to administer quality care to residents with dementia.

  • A new kitchen will be constructed to ensure efficiency. A café will allow employees, residents, and their families to have a place to grab a bite to eat, visit, and socialize together.

  • The addition of the new dementia unit will free up space allowing us to provide a short-term rehabilitation suite with 8 private rooms to care for individuals who have an acute health condition such as a heart attack, stroke, or undergo a joint replacement surgery and need intensive therapies to regain strength and mobility to return home.

  • A non-denominational chapel will be added to ensure residents, families, and employees have a quiet place for prayer and reflection.

  • Courtyard: The unique design of the addition brings with it an enclosed, secure outdoor courtyard for all residents to enjoy. The area will have plenty of seating, flowers, and bird feeders.

  • The remainder of the facility will undergo improvements including fresh paint and blinds to provide a clean, comfortable atmosphere. We will create a telemedicine unit, medication rooms, conference space, additional offices, storage space, and an access road around the entire facility.
