09/19/2020 - Positive Employee & First Positive Resident

On Saturday, September 19, 2020, The Lutheran Home at Kane was notified of an employee and a resident testing COVID-19 positive in their latest round of weekly testing.  This is the first resident to test positive at The Lutheran Home since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Positive results for both the employee and the resident have been reported to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The Lutheran Home immediately implemented its COVID-19 Emergency Preparedness Plan moving the positive resident to the “Red Zone”.  The Red Zone is a designated area for any positive or potentially positive COVID-19 resident.  The resident is currently exhibiting no signs or symptoms.  The positive employee is a nursing employee and will be off work for fourteen days to quarantine.  This employee is also exhibiting no signs or symptoms.

The Lutheran Home will continue to follow CDC guidelines and take every precaution to ensure the virus does not spread in the building.  Window visits remain the only means of visitation but windows must be kept closed at all times.  Residents and staff will be tested weekly for at least the next two weeks or until 100% negative results are received for two consecutive weeks.

Staff at The Lutheran Home have successfully kept COVID-19 out of the facility for over seven months and are dedicated to continue working to keep the residents safe.

09/14/2020 - Round 2 Testing Results in 1 Positive Employee

Due to the positive employee case reported September 2, 2020, two weekly rounds of COVID testing were required.  Round 1 resulted in 100% negative resident and employee results.  However, the second round of testing completed on September 9th and 10th resulted in one administrative employee testing positive.

The positive employee is not working at this time, but was in the facility performing administrative duties on their last day of work which was Friday, September 11, 2020.  We are continuing to follow CDC guidelines and we are taking every precaution to ensure the virus does not spread in the building.

Window visits remain the only means of visitation but windows must be kept closed at all times.

Lutheran Home at Kane residents and staff will be tested weekly for at least the next two weeks or until we receive 100% negative results for two consecutive weeks.

Our number one concern is for the safety and welfare of our residents and staff.  Our staff continue to go above and beyond to keep your loved ones safe.
