The Lutheran Home at Kane is following all CDC guidelines to keep residents safe during the
COVID-19 pandemic.  We understand you may have many concerns and questions regarding
COVID-19 and your loved ones.  The safety of our residents and staff is our number one priority. 
We will do our very best to continue to keep you informed.  Please check back often for updates.

05/04/2023 - No New Cases for LHK or RCC

The Lutheran Home and Residential Care Center residents and employees have had no new COVID-19 cases this past week.  Both facilities remain COVID-19 free at this time.

As always, all residents and all staff continue to be closely monitored for signs and symptoms and are tested as necessary.

04/27/2023 - No Active COVID-19 Cases

The Lutheran Home and the Residential Care Center have had no new COVID-19 cases this past week. 

At this time, there are no active resident or employee cases in either facility.  

We continue to monitor all residents and employees for signs and symptoms and test as necessary.

04/20/2022 - LHK and RCC Remain COVID-19 Free

The Lutheran Home and Residential Care Center residents and employees have had no new COVID-19 cases this past week.  

At the current time, there are no active cases at either facility.

As always, all residents and all staff continue to be closely monitored for signs and symptoms and are tested as necessary.

04/14/2022 - No Active COVID-19 Cases for LHK or RCC

The Lutheran Home and Residential Care Center residents and employees have had no new COVID-19 cases this past week.  

At the current time, there are no active cases at either facility.

As always, all residents and all staff continue to be closely monitored for signs and symptoms and are tested as necessary.

04/06/2022 - New Positive Result for LHK Resident

A Lutheran Home resident has tested positive for COVID-19.  The positive result is being reported to the Department of Health and contact tracing is being completed.  All residents and staff continue to be monitored for signs and symptoms and tested as necessary.

The Residential Care Center currently has no active COVID-19 cases.

03/29/2023 - Lutheran Home Residents Tests Positive for COVID-19

Three Lutheran Home residents have tested positive for COVID-19.  The positive results have been reported to the Department of Health and contact tracing is being completed.

Although the Residential Care Center has no new positives at this time, there remain active COVID-19 cases in the RCC facility.

Please remember that while visitors are generally permitted at all times, visitors should always be aware of the risk of spreading and contracting COVID-19 when visiting during this outbreak period.  Visitors will be informed of these risks as well as the visitation guidelines via postings found at the front entrance of the facility.

03/27/2023 - RCC - Additional Positive Resident and Two Additional Staff

One additional resident and two additional RCC employees have tested positive for COVID-19.  The positive results have been reported to the Department of Health.

Please remember that while visitors are generally permitted at all times, visitors should always be aware of the risk of spreading and contracting COVID-19 when visiting the Residential Care Center during this outbreak period.  Visitors will be informed of these risks as well as the visitation guidelines via postings found at the front entrance of the facility.

03/26/2023 - Four RCC Residents and One RCC Employee Test Positive

Four additional Residential Care Center residents have tested positive for COVID-19.  One RCC employee has also tested positive. The positive residents have been moved to the red zones.  RCC residents will continue to be monitored closely for any signs and symptoms and will be tested as necessary.  The positive Residential Care Center results have been reported to the Department of Health.

03/25/2023 - Seven RCC Residents Test Positive for COVID-19

Seven Residential Care Center residents have tested positive for COVID-19.  These positive residents have been moved to the red zones.  All other RCC residents were tested today and all others are negative at this time.  RCC residents will continue to be monitored closely for any signs and symptoms and will be tested as necessary.  The positive Residential Care Center results have been reported to the Department of Health.

03/15/2023 - Residential Care Center Employee Tests Positive

A Residential Care Center employee has tested positive for COVID-19.  Contact tracing is being completed for this employee and the positive result has been reported to the Department of Health.  All RCC residents are negative at this time.

The Lutheran Home currently has no active resident or employee cases.

03/13/2023 - LHK & RCC Remain COVID Free

Residents and employees from The Lutheran Home and the Residential Care Center have remained COVID-19 free this past week.

An additional Residential Care Center employee has tested positive for COVID-19.  Contact tracing is being completed for this employee and the positive result has been reported to the Department of Health.  All RCC residents continue to be negative at this time.

12/27/2022 - COVID-19 Positive Lutheran Home Employee

A Lutheran Home employee has tested positive for COVID-19.  Contact tracing is being completed for this employee and the positive result has been reported to the Department of Health.  There continue to be no positive COVID-19 results for LHK residents at this time.

 

All Residential Care Center residents and staff remain negative at this time.

12/24/2022 - Two Lutheran Home Employees Test Positive

Two Lutheran Home employees have tested positive for COVID-19.  The positive results have been reported to the Department of Health and contact tracing is being completed.  There have been no positive COVID-19 results for LHK residents.

09/15/2022 - COVID-19 Booster Clinic Scheduled for 09/21/2022

A COVID-19 booster clinic will be held on Wednesday, September 21st at The Lutheran Home and all eligible LHK and RCC residents with a prior COVID-19 vaccine consent will receive the new booster.

 

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your loved one receiving the new COVID-19 booster, please call The Lutheran Home or Residential Care Center by Tuesday, September 20th.

 

At this time, both facilities continue to be COVID-19 free.  

09/09/2022 - No Active COVID-19 Resident Cases

There are now no active COVID-19 resident cases at The Lutheran Home.  Due to this, all areas of LHK are now designated as Green.

The Residential Care Center continues to have no active COVID-19 cases.

09/07/2022 - COVID-19 Positive Lutheran Home Employee

A Lutheran Home employee has tested positive for COVID-19.  Contact tracing is being completed for this employee and the positive result has been reported to the Department of Health.

 

The 300 Wing remains a Yellow Zone while all other areas are now Green Zones. 

The Residential Care Center continues to have no active COVID-19 cases.

09/06/2022 - No New COVID-19 Cases for LHK or RCC

Although The Lutheran Home continues to have active COVID-19 cases in the facility, there have been no new cases reported. The 200 Wing and 300 Wing remain Yellow Zones at this time.  The 400 Wing and Horizon Unit are both Green Zones.

The Residential Care Center continues to have no active COVID-19 cases.

The Residential Care Center currently has no active COVID-19 cases.

The number of active COVID-19 cases continue to increase for Lutheran Home residents and staff. Four Lutheran Home residents and two Lutheran Home employees have tested positive for COVID-19.  The positive residents have been moved to the Red Zone.  The positive results have been reported to the Department of Health and contact tracing is being completed.

There are no active COVID-19 residents or employees at the Residential Care Center.

07/16/2022 - One Staff and One Resident Test Positive

One Lutheran Home resident and one Lutheran Home employee have tested positive for COVID-19.  This brings the active COVID-19 LHK residents to 17 for this current outbreak.  The positive results have been reported to the Department of Health and contact tracing is being completed.
 

The Residential Care Center residents and employees have no recent positive results but continue to have active COVID-19 cases.

07/14/2022 - Additional Positive Results for LHK

The Lutheran Home has had one additional resident and one additional employee test positive for
COVID-19.

 

The Residential Care Center residents and employees have no recent positive results but continue to have active COVID-19 cases.

We strongly discourage visits at this time, however, if you choose to visit, please be be sure to follow these guidelines:

  • Residents and visitors MUST wear a mask at all times.

  • Outdoor visits are encouraged.

  • If visiting in a resident room, the curtain must be pulled closed between roommates at all times.

  • No visitors in dining rooms or the Activities Center.

07/13/2022 - Additional Residents and Staff Test Positive

The Lutheran Home has had three additional residents and one additional employee test positive for COVID-19.  The Department of Health has been notified and contract tracing is being completed.

 

The Residential Care Center residents and employees have had no new positive results. 

 

We strongly discourage visits at the Residential Care Center, the 400 Wing, and the Horizon Unit at this time.

07/11/2022 - LHK & RCC Employees Test Positive

Three Lutheran Home employees have tested positive for COVID-19.  The positive results have been reported to the Department of Health and contract tracing is being completed.

 

All Residential Care Center residents were retested this morning and there are no new positive results.   

 

We discourage you from visiting the the Horizon Unit and Residential Care Center at this time.  However, if you choose to visit, please be aware of the positive COVID-19 cases in our facility.

07/10/2022 - 12 Lutheran Home Residents Test Postive and 1 RCC Staff

Twelve Lutheran Home residents have tested positive today for COVID-19.  The Department of Health has been notified of the twelve positive results and responsible parties are being notified for each resident.

 

In addition, the Residential Care Center has had one employee test positive for COVID-19. 

 

We discourage you from visiting the the Horizon Unit and Residential Care Center at this time.  However, if you choose to visit, please be aware of the positive COVID-19 cases in our facility.

07/08/2022 - Positive Results for Additional RCC Resident

One additional Residential Care Center resident has tested positive for COVID-19.  This resident has been moved to the red zone and their responsible party has been notified. All other Residential Care Center residents and staff were also tested this morning and everyone else is negative.

 

The positive result has been reported to the Department of Health.

 

There are no new cases on The Lutheran Home side of the facility. 

07/05/2022 - Three Additional RCC Residents Test Positive for COVID-19

Three additional Residential Care Center residents have tested positive for COVID-19.  These positive residents have been moved to the red zone.  Responsible parties of the positive residents have been notified.  All other RCC residents were tested today and all others are negative at this time.  The RCC residents will continue to be monitored closely for any signs and symptoms and will be tested as necessary.

 

The positive Residential Care Center results have been reported to the Department of Health.

07/01/2022 - Positive Residential Care Center Resident

One Residential Care Center resident has tested positive for COVID-19.  All other residents have been tested and all others are negative at this time.  We discourage visits at the Residential Care Center at this time.

A Lutheran Home employee has tested positive for COVID-19 but this employee is a casual employee and had not been in the facility for several days prior to their positive result. 

There have been no new cases for residents or employees at the Residential Care Center.

We continue to monitor all residents and staff and test for COVID-19 when necessary.

06/03/2022 - No New COVID-19 Cases

The Lutheran Home and the Residential Care Center residents and staff have had no new COVID-19 cases to report this week.

The McKean County Transmission Rate remains high at this time.  All residents and staff continue to be monitored for signs and symptoms and tested when necessary.

05/25/2022 - COVID-19 Positive Employee

Another Lutheran Home employee has tested positive for COVID-19. The positive result has been reported to the Department of Health and contact tracing is being completed.

No new cases have been reported once again this week for the residents or staff of The Lutheran Home and the Residential Care Center.

04/27/2022 - LHK & RCC Remain COVID-19 Free

For the third week in a row, both the Lutheran Home and Residential Care Center have remained COVID free.  This includes all residents and all staff.  

Plans are being put into place for special events to be held during National Nursing Home Week which will be celebrated at the facility May 8th through May 14th.  

04/20/2022 - No New COVID-19 Cases to Report

The Lutheran Home and Residential Care Center residents and employees have had no new COVID-19 cases this past week.  The second COVID-19 Booster Clinic will take place here at The Lutheran Home today (Wednesday, April 20th) for eligible residents and staff.

As always, all residents and all staff continue to be closely monitored for signs and symptoms and are tested as necessary.

04/12/2022 - Second COVID-19 Booster Clinic Scheduled for 4/20/2022

The second COVID-19 booster is now available for our residents. A clinic will be held on Wednesday, April 20th at The Lutheran Home and all eligible residents with a prior COVID-19 vaccine consent will receive the new booster. 

 

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your loved one receiving the second COVID-19 booster, please call The Lutheran Home by Friday, April 15th.

04/07/2022 - Positive Results for Lutheran Home Employee

We were notified this morning of a Lutheran Home employee testing positive for COVID-19. This employee has not worked in the facility for several days and was tested in the community.  This positive result has been reported to the Department of Health and contact tracing is being completed.

 

RCC residents and staff continue to be negative.   

04/06/2022 - No New COVID-19 Cases for LHK or RCC

The Lutheran Home at Kane has remained COVID-19 free this past week.  Residents and staff at the Residential Care Center have also remained COVID-19 free.

03/29/2022 - Second Positive LHK Employee This Week

As of this morning, Tuesday, March 29th, one additional Lutheran Home employee has tested positive for COVID-19. This employee was immediately sent home and contact tracing is being completed. The Department of Health has been notified of this positive result.

 

RCC residents and staff continue to be negative at this time.  

 

As always, residents and all staff will continue to be monitored for signs and symptoms and will be tested as necessary.

03/17/2022 - COVID-19 Free

Lutheran Home at Kane as well as Residential Care Center residents and staff have continued to test negative this week for COVID-19. 

Please remember all visitors must continue to enter the front main entrance, complete the screening questionnaire, take their temperature, and perform hand hygiene with hand sanitizer provided. This must be done each and every visit.  If you have a fever or any signs of COVID-19, please stay home.  Masks must be worn during the visit.

03/09/2022 - LHK and RCC Remain COVID Free

The Lutheran Home at Kane and Residential Care Center residents and staff have remained COVID free this week.  With our community positivity rate remaining high, all staff continue to be tested once a week or twice a week if not up to date with all recommended COVID-19 vaccine doses (includes the booster).  

03/02/2022 - No New COVID-19 Cases

The Lutheran Home at Kane has remained COVID-19 free this past week.  Residents and staff at the Residential Care Center have also remained COVID-19 free.

We are following new Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations which require any employee not up to date with all recommended COVID-19 vaccine doses (which includes the booster) to wear N95 masks and to be tested twice a week.

02/22/2022 - All Wings Now Green  Zones

A Lutheran Home employee has tested positive for COVID-19. This employee was immediately sent home and contact tracing was completed.  The Department of Health has been notified of this positive result.  We are happy to announce all Lutheran Home wings are open and are designated as Green Zones. 

 

All residents and all staff at the Residential Care Center continue to remain negative.

Resident testing was completed on the Lutheran Home side of the facility this morning and one Lutheran Home resident has tested positive for COVID-19.  This resident was immediately moved to a Red Zone and the positive test was reported to the Department of Health.

 

At this time, the 300 Wing will remain a Yellow Zone.  The 200 Wing and 400 Wings are now both Green Zones.

 

The Residential Care Center residents and staff continue to be negative at this time.

02/07/2022 - Weekly Testing Results in Two Positive Employees

As of this morning, Monday, February 7th, two additional Lutheran Home employees have tested positive for COVID-19. These employees were immediately sent home and contact tracing is being completed.  The positive results have been reported to the Department of Health.

 

Facility wide resident testing will be completed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 8th. 

 

Residential Care Center residents and staff have continued to test negative at this time.

02/04/2022 - Positive Results for LHK Employee

As of this morning, Friday, February 4th, one additional Lutheran Home employee has tested positive for COVID-19.  This employee was immediately sent home and contact tracing is being completed.  The positive result has been reported to the Department of Health.

 

The 200, 300, and 400 Wings remain Yellow Zones at this time.  Testing of all Lutheran Home residents was completed earlier this week and all resident results were negative.  All residents will be tested again this coming week.

As of this morning, Monday, January 31st, two additional Lutheran Home employees have tested positive for COVID-19.  These employees were immediately sent home and contact tracing is being completed.  These positive results have been reported to the Department of Health.

 

At this time, all results have been negative at the Residential Care Center.

01/26/2022 - 3 Positive LHK Residents and 1 Positive LHK Employee

Due to the recent positive cases of COVID-19 here at The Lutheran Home, facility wide COVID-19 testing was performed this morning and three additional Lutheran Home residents have tested positive.  These residents have been moved to the Red Zone and the responsible parties for these residents have all been notified. The 200 Wing, 300 Wing, and 400 Wing have all now be designated as Yellow Zones.

 

In addition to the three new positive residents, one Lutheran Home employee has also tested positive.  Contract tracing is being completed and all positive results have been reported to the Department of Health.

 

Facility wide testing was also completed today at the Residential Care Center and all residents are negative.

01/21/2022 - Five Additional Positive LHK Residents

As of this morning, Friday, January 21st, five additional residents have tested positive for COVID-19.  These residents have been moved to the Red Zone. The positive results have been reported to the Department of Health.

 

Due to five residents testing positive, it was decided to conduct testing of all residents in the facility and all other residents have tested negative. 

 

At this time, we have stopped group activities and communal dining while residents are monitored for signs and symptoms. Our 200 Wing has now been made a Yellow Zone.  Visits may continue, however, it remains very important for all visitors to be aware of the positive cases at our facility and masks must continue to be worn at all times.

01/18/2022 - LHK Resident Tests Positive for COVID-19

One LHK resident has tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.  This resident was immediately moved to the Red Zone. The positive test result has been reported to the Department of Health. Residents and staff will continue to be monitored closely for signs and symptoms and will be tested as necessary.

01/14/2022 - High County Positivity Rate Leads to Positive Employees

As the county positivity rate remains high, we continue to have employees test positive for COVID-19.  Four additional employees have tested positive.  These positive test results have been reported to the Department of Health and contract tracing is being conducted.

01/10/2022 - Two Additional Employees Test Positive for COVID-19

Two additional Lutheran Home employees have now tested positive for COVID-19.  These employees were immediately sent home and the positive results were reported to the Department of Health.

Contract tracing is being conducted and all residents and employees will be monitored for signs and symptoms.  Testing will be completed as necessary.

01/06/2022 - Employee Tests Positive

An additional employee has tested positive for COVID-19.  This employee was exhibiting symptoms so tested prior to their scheduled shift and was immediately sent home when the results were positive.  This positive result was reported to the Department of Health.

As with all positive employees, contact tracing was complete and we will continue to monitor others for signs and symptoms and test as necessary.

01/04/2022 - Positive Employee and Visitation Reminders

We have been notified of an additional employee testing positive. This employee was showing signs and symptoms so performed additional testing beyond their weekly testing. The Department of Health has been notified of this new positive result.

The high county positivity rate remains a concern.  In order to protect our residents, we ask you to please continue to follow the procedures outlined below.

  • All visitors must self-screen when entering the building.  

  • All visitors must wear a mask at ALL times.

  • If a resident would like their family member to stay during meal times, accommodations will be made for the resident to be moved to a table without additional residents or to another location. 

  • If a visitor would like to stay during an activity or coffee hour, the resident must not be at a table with other residents and the visitor must wear their mask the entire time!
