Short Term Stay for Long Term Care

A program that enables a smooth and safe transition when returning home

The Lutheran Home at Kane provides extensive therapies through a partnership with Genesis ElderCare. Through Genesis ElderCare Rehabilitation Services interdisciplinary therapy resources, we are able to address all three of the traditional therapy areas as part of one concentrated effort. The staff includes:

·        Physical Therapists who address walking and transferring safely and efficiently, either alone or with an assistive device such as  a walker or cane. Treatments may also include muscle retraining, lower extremity strengthening or modalities including moist heat, whirlpool, and ultrasound.

·        Occupational Therapists assist in increasing independence in activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, functional transfers and feeding. Occupational Therapy may also focus on splinting, wheelchair seating and adaptive equipment to the environment.

·        Speech Language Pathologist work to improve communication and swallowing skills. The Speech Language Pathologist can also perform hearing screens.
